Gate
Engineering Corp. is a company that was created no only based
on professional qualifications but with people in mind.
Lourdes Figueroa has believed and worked on goal setting
and pay for performance as the basis for the compensation philosophy.
He has established an open door policy that is strictly
observed at all times and he believes that people are the key
for the success of the organization.
The
nominee is an individual with religious beliefs and understands
that integrity is fundamental to his relationship with employees,
customers and suppliers. He
understands that his employees know their work and he empowers
them in their area of expertise.
Lourdes
Figueroa has also been active in his community and has involved
his employees equally in this process. He has worked with the professional associations in bringing
seminars to the different engineering colleges. He and his employees have “adopted” a home for orphan
children in Bayamón, sponsored baseball and basketball teams,
have donated money to A.M.A.R. (Asociación de Médicos al Rescate)
and small student scholarships for students in engineering and
technical studies.
This
participation is not only of Lourdes Figueroa but also of his employees
in these activities benefit the employees in seeing the importance
of the relationship of this company to the community.
Future
Plans
Gate
Engineering Corporation has currently grown to three divisions,
Gate Building Management, Gate Technical Services and Gate
Construction. It
plans to continue expanding its operations to four additional
divisions within its 10 years business plan that integrates with
the company philosophy:

Gate Real Estate
Gate Information Systems and Telecommunications
Gate Energy Auditing
Its
current and future are also being considered to export services
and globalize the company to the Caribbean and Latin America.
